Though he stands at an average height for someone of his species, constant physical work has given him a muscular and defined physique. Bode listens more than he speaks, and is direct in conversation, stating his needs and thoughts plainly. That simplicity doesn't convey a lack of intellect, only a clarity of purpose and knowledge of himself and his wants.Though he trains and works almost obsessively, in his moments of downtime he can often be found either reading from or building his personal library. Though he is a terrible liar, his skill with magic, stealth, and frontline combat make him a valuable asset for the group.• Reluctant Destined Hero: Though he doesn't consistently believe them, the signs and portents around Bode's birth suggest he is destined to prevent a chronologically distant calamity. As such, he was trained with an unusually harsh level of exacting discipline, even for a Steppe Viera boy. He didn't want this destiny and associates it with suffering and a lack of free will he finds disquieting.

• New Arrival: Bode has only been out of the Range for about a year, and is still learning the customs and practices of the wider world. Though he is making progress, he is often naïve to things like commerce, deception, and the power structures that make Eorzea tick. It doesn't help that he's honest to a fault; he will tie himself in knots to avoid lying or fabricating tales.

• The Echo: Bode has a potent gift of The Echo, tilted especially toward martial and magical combat. He has a degree of battle awareness that lets him know about danger and react with preternatural speed, and he has an uncanny ability to pick up any weapon and wield it with an uncanny degree of skill.

• Signs and Symbols: Strange coincidences and unlikely happenings occur with surprising frequency around Bode. Expect shooting stars, encounters with strange monsters, earthquakes, and bizarre meteorological phenomena.• Big Aetherpool: One more sign that Bode may be the destined hero he wishes he wasn't is that the pool of aether he is able to draw upon is uncommonly, unnervingly large. Bode often prefers martial combat to magical combat because a blade or a spear gives him a framework to channel this aether less destructively.
